Happy New Year!
Two days into 2017, I’m already behind. Whoops! Part of blogging is being yourself right? I like to think of a new year as a closing of one chapter and the opening of another. The new year is a great time to reflect on the past year and plan for the next one. During the last few days of 2016, I began planning for 2017.
First, I thought about what I accomplished in 2016. Here is a general overview of small and big accomplishments throughout 2016.
- Running five miles without stopping
- Graduating with a Masters degree
- Buying our first home
- Cooking more than eating out
- Finding podcast and audiobooks
- Travelled somewhere new
2016 was a good year. I learned a lot and grew a lot through the ups and downs. I started with my 2016 accomplishments so you will know where I am starting for 2017. I’m not going to go into a lot of detail in this post, because there are many more post to come with detail.
2017 Goals and Plans
- Run my first 10k
- Run my first half-marathon
- Study in my field
- Finish decorating the office
- Update the organization of the downstairs and bedroom closet
- Read 50 books (audio or paper)
- Try out new recipes!
- Try out this whole blogging thing
- Travel more
- Work on streamlining my wardrobe
So if you were wondering what my future post will be about, here it is!
Where am I right now?
I began distance running in the middle of 2016. Since then, I have dealt with knee pain and swelling; ran 5 miles at an average 9’05” pace; and been unable to work out for a few weeks (okay, almost two months) between being sick and holiday festivities. The gym closing for over a week really hurt my weight training, which caused my knee pain to come back with vengence. I have a lot of work to do before my first half marathon early in the year, but I’m ready to get back to training.
Onto the house, I cannot even express the excitement I experienced when we moved out of our apartment. Since then, we have painted almost every room in the house ourselves and placed most of the furniture. We have nothing hung on the walls, nor do have I worked on the decor. B gets super excited every time I mention that we need to finish painting and move a few pieces of furniture. That’s why it’s already done… I hope you pick up on my joke here.
My favorite pastime is reading. Yes, I love reading more than running or cooking/eating. I was an avid reader as a child. I hate to admit there was a time in my life where my reading life took a drastic hit. This is called high school. There four years were busy for me. I rekindled my relationship with reading in college by reading Harry Potter. For the first time… at nineteen years old. Since then, I have read over 150 books since then. My goal is to read at least 50 books this year.
Currently, I am working on new recipes, nailing down a few trips, and a plan to streamline my wardrobe. I will elaborate on these topics soon.
